Okay, so I lied when I said I had no idea why I was reading this. :P
I read it because it is being adapted into a TV Show starring
Max Irons! . (Hear that, girls?)
Historical fiction -that too romance- is not my thing, not at all. I've tried my hands on quite a few historical books but ended up liking just one out of them (
Girl With A Pearl Earring ) and after reading this one I think I should just give up this genre. It is not made for me.
For the reason mentioned above and because of all the praise I've heard about Philippa Gregory I was very excited to read this but eventually I got equal amount of disappointed. The story was not very original, the protagonist was just okay-okay and the love story was not very convincing. Its an insta-love kind of story which I hate. They looked into each other's eyes and bam!
You Are My Soul Mate starts playing in the background.
Those 2 Stars that I've given are ONLY for Gregory's writing which I think was really
fitting , is the word I'm going to use. Historical books need an archaic kind of ring in their narration and this one had. I quite liked the writing and I wish Philippa Gregory wrote something other than Historical Fictions so I could read more of her work.
